This is just my opinion. But I’ve been browsing the tag for Naruto OC’s lately and noticed something…many are not dressed well for the role of a ninja. At all.
This is a character design thing that tends to be my pet peeve. This can go for any character; ninja, fighter, warrior, any type that gets into battles. You want to dress them for the fight. They’re gonna have blades, knives, fists, darts, arrows, etc chucked at them, so do you want them half naked?
If you’re thinking of what kind of clothes you want your character to wear, think practical. The stomach is the most vulnerable part of the body, so protect it well! Also, for girls, PROTECT THOSE BOOBIES. Strap em down, cover them up, because unless they’re your secret weapon or something, you don’t want them hitting you in the face. Fish nets might look cool, but really, how practical are they? In the Naruto universe, I think they’re used more as a mesh than anything, as extra protection from weapons.
Doesn’t mean your design needs to be boring! There are tons of ways to make it look nice. But just think of it this way: If you were being attacked by some guy with a knife, what would you want to be wearing? Surely not a bikini!
Also, it is your character. If you want to dress her up like a stripper, it’s entirely up to you. But don’t be surprised if she ends up on a Mary Sue blog! ;)
